“When you see a guy, reach for stars in the sky…”
“Take back your mink, take back your pearls…”
“Luck be a lady, tonight…”
These are just some of the lyrics from one of America’s favorite musical comedy
classics, Frank Loesser’s Guys and Dolls, which Archbold Community Theatre will present in July of 2014. Based on Damon Runyon’s unbeatable stories from the 1930s and 40s about New York and the colorful characters who inhabit the heart of the city’s Times Square and Broadway districts, Guys and Dolls was an instant smash hit when it opened on Broadway. The original Broadway run continued for more than 1,200 performances.
ACT’s production of Guys and Dolls has a wide array of talent. Featured in the lead roles are Garrett Leininger as Sky Masterson, Sarah Horner as Sarah Brown, Nicole Spadafore as Miss Adelaide, Kyle Slagley as Nathan Detroit and Alex as Nicely-Nicely Johnson. Jeff Patterson will take on the role of Lt. Brannigan. The wise-talking gamblers will be played by Eddie Bialorucki, Brandon Bryant, Phil Ennen, Norm Fether, Ryan Mooney, Jeff Roth, Adam Steider, David Stuckey and Caleb Wyse. The charming nightclub entertainer gals who love them will be played by Elizabeth Bower, Chelsea Ennen, Alyssa Horner, Hope Nofziger, Moriah Reichert, Corryn Short, Tara Slagley and Angelina Sorge. Members of the Save A Soul Mission who are trying to save all their sinning souls will be portrayed by Elizabeth Bower, Karen & Ken Bower, Norm Fether, Alyssa Horner and Kelley Ketcham. Jill Bates and Fairy Riter help out as extras. Guys and Dolls is full of singing, dancing and comedy that will leave you smiling long after you leave the theater.
Guys and Dolls is under the direction of Steve Van Sickle, his assistant director, Teresa Van Sickle; vocal director, Nicole Spadafore; choreographer, Tara Slagley and orchestra director, Lindsay Bialorucki. Randy Rohrs and Steve and Teresa did the set building design. Bill Phelps is heading up set construction. Karen Grieser is heading up the set decorating design and the set painting. Director application information
If you would be interested in directing any of the shows in the 2014/2015 season please send a letter of interest to Steve Van Sickle (firstname.lastname@example.org) by the applicable deadline.
For those of you that may not know what this is, when someone is interested in directing a show they need to mail or email a director’s letter of interest to a member of the ACT board telling them what show they would like to direct. If only one person sends in a letter and the board is confident of their directing abilities they will be allowed to direct the show. If multiple people are interested in directing the same show the ACT Executive Team interviews each candidate and chooses the person they feel will do the best job.
