| A Fiddler on the Roof - Sounds Crazy, No? |
| This is the opening line to one of the most well-known musicals ever written. And in a few short weeks, these words will be spoken on the stage of the Archbold High School auditorium. For myself and many others, Fiddler on the Roof has been a long-awaited musical, and I am so excited to be part of the process of putting it all together for the enjoyment of others in the community. We have a marvelous, very talented cast that is made up of people from many different surrounding communities and walks of life. The lead role of Tevye will be played by Dave Perkins of Bryan, who has portrayed this character several times for other theatre groups. His wife, Golde, will be played by Sandra Salsbury of Wauseon. Their five daughters will be portrayed by Kate Salsbury (Wauseon), Amanda Richer, Jessica David and Jessica Leininger (Archbold) and Erin Cole (Pettisville). Other main cast members include Brenda Canada (Wauseon) as Yente the Matchmaker, Mike Salsbury (Wauseon) as Lazar Wolf, Andrew Schmidt (Wauseon) as Motel the Tailor, Mark Taylor (Rossford) as Perchik, Brenton Collyer (Stryker) as Fyedka, Ed Perry (Wauseon) as the Rabbi, Cameron Ruffer (Archbold) as Mendel, Jamy Shaffer (Bryan) as Avram, Carolyn Kauffman (Archbold) as Grandma Tzeital, and Angela Sutter (New Bavaria) as Fruma-Sarah. The remaining cast includes Barbara Bowman, Laura Bowman, Lindsay Burnett, Kate Friesen, Emily Grisier, Jen Holsopple, Dwight Kauffman, Carla Lyberg, Josh Lyberg, Jennifer McCoy, Becky Meyer, Mike Meyer, Fern Nafziger, Heather Tracewski, Ginnie Witte, Martha Wyse and Donovan Ziegler (all of Archbold); Jamie Collyer (Stryker); Christopher Matthews, Clayton Matthews and Doug Yoder (Pettisville); Courtney Monk (Defiance); Corryn Short (Wauseon); and Emily Stuckey (West Unity). Jim Sauder is back again working his magic with the music for this production. He is so expressive and knows how to bring out the best in the voices. It is a pleasure to work with him. And I am thrilled to have Bonnie Rupp doing choreography for me. We have worked together in the past on so many shows. The only difference is....I don’t have to dance this time!! And my team wouldn’t be complete without Teresa VanSickle by my side as my Assistant Director. This is the fifth show we have done together for ACT, and she is the person who is always there when I need something done, or someone contacted. There will be six performances of Fiddler in July,
and we are thrilled to run this in conjunction with Archbold’s Carp
Festival, and to be having fireworks following the performance on July
19. See the enclosed poster for performance dates, ticket prices and who
to contact for information. |
