Can you believe
we are already coming to the close of ACT’s season? I can’t
believe how quickly it’s flown by. Let’s take a look back.
We started the season off with Love Rides the Rails, or Will the Mail
Train Run Tonight? Next we were honored to become the first community
theatre to produce Children’s Letters to God. We just finished Fiddler
on the Roof and already have Murder’s in the Heir underway! You
simply can’t ask for a better variety of shows than that. We received
a wonderful audience response from each of them. There is still plenty of room for growth and improvement. ACT needs to build a much larger volunteer base. We still have too few people doing too many things. If you, or if you know of anyone willing to help in any manner, please contact any board member. Even if you can only spare a few hours per week or even a month, the help is greatly appreciated. There literally is something for everyone. If you’re good working with computers, we need you. If you like to sew, paint, clean, maintain, shovel, mow, direct, produce, find props, do make-up, act, take pictures, stuff newsletters, make scrap books and albums…we NEED you! Please contact any of our board members. We’d be happy to get you involved. Now for some sad news I’m afraid, at least for me. It has been my honor to serve as President of ACT for the past two years. I have learned more in that brief time about running an organization than I ever thought possible. I have had the privilege of meeting many new and wonderful people. I even made the front page of the Archbold Buckeye (so what if I was in a gorilla suit)! Unfortunately, after living my life for ACT and theatre over the past several years, I find myself negligent on some personal ambitions and projects that can simply wait no longer. I have, for the time being, decided to try and serve the remainder of my two years on the board, but will be unable to serve in the capacity of an officer. In other words, I need to cut back the time I spend on theatre about 80%. We do however, have a host of other talented people on the board and I’m sure one of them will “step up to the plate” and probably do as well or better than I have done. I hope that you will all support that new person in any way you can. I just ask you to all take a moment and realize what a wonderful thing ACT is and can become for this community. It has certainly made an enormous, positive impact on my life. Ya’ll break a leg now, ya hear! |
