ACT Beats Hollywood to the Punch with "Beau Jest"

Yes, it is quite true. Archbold Community Theatre will open “Beau Jest” Friday, February 23rd several months before Hollywood releases the movie version of this hilarious comedy. The filming of the movie was actually completed last fall and is currently in its final phases of production.

This information came to light when Mitchell Owens of Bryan was interviewed. Owens is the Executive Director for the Bryan Area Foundation, and a fresh face in this ACT production. He will be playing the role of Joel Goldman, brother to Sarah Goldman who finds herself in a love triangle. It didn’t take long to find out that Mr. Owens is very intelligent, direct and sincere. He absolutely loves “Beau Jest”. “This is my absolute favorite production that I’ve been a part of. I love the cast, and the show is hilarious. People will want to see it more than once because much of the humor is subtle and you won’t catch it all the first time as there may be several funny things happening at the same time.”

Owens was in the Fountain City Festival production of “Beauty and the Beast” this past summer, and played the part of Cogsworth. That was his first production in 20 years, the last since participating in different shows in high school. “This though, is just a very funny show. I’m really happy to be a part of it.”

Other cast members include Faith Miller and Theron Steinke (Bryan), Karen Grieser (Hamilton, IN), Bill Phelps (Archbold) and Clayton Matthews (Pettisville).

You can see this incredibly funny comedy at Giffey Hall on Feb. 23, 24, March 2, 3rd and 4th.
