ACT's "Beau Jest" Coming Along Well

Archbold Community Theatre has rehearsals running full speed for its upcoming production of “Beau Jest”. Beau Jest is a side-splitting comedy about a young Jewish lady, Sarah Goldman (Faith Miller of Bryan) who is at her wits end trying to please her parents (Bill Phelps of Archbold, and Karen Grieser Hamilton,In.). Her parents want her to marry a nice young Jewish man. The problem is, her boyfriend (Clayton Matthews of Pettisville) is not Jewish. So she hires a Jewish Actor (Theron Steinke of Bryan) to meet her family. A good plan, except he’s not really Jewish. Sarah’s brother, Bob, (Mitchell Owens of Bryan) begins to sniff out the deception, and things really start to get interesting.

Beau Jest is directed by Kim Semer of Bryan. Although Kim has directed several previous shows, this is her first for ACT. It is the second time she has directed “Beau Jest”. Asked what made this show so special, she replied, “It’s just plain fun. It’s cute, funny, and has some great one-liners”. Working with this cast has been wonderful. I show up to practice with something in mind, and most every night, the cast amazes me with something far beyond what I had imagined.”

Semer’s eyes sparkled so much when talking about the show, one can only imagine how much fun it will be. This is one show you won’t want to miss!

“Beau Jest” will open at Giffey Hall in Ridgeville Corners Feb. 23. It will run Feb. 23, 24, March 2, 3 and 4th. For tickets call Patti at 419-267-5717 weekdays from 6-9PM.
